LOMBARD BASEBALL LEAGUE

In-House Baseball

The age requirements follow the school year (age on August 31st).  Practices generally start in late March with games continuing through May and June.  The season ends before the 4th of July.  Ideally, each team has 11-12 players, both boys and girls.   Lombard Baseball League emphasizes that players should play different positions during the season and coaches teach players to make the “correct” baseball play.

Junior Division instructional (non-competitive) league focusing on the development of baseball, personal, and team skills in a positive environment. The league and coaches will not track wins and losses during the regular season.

Players are placed on teams according to parental requests (friend/coach), school boundary, and/or neighborhood. Please note that while most requests are honored, some requests cannot be accommodated due to logistic reasons (i.e. too many players on one team, no one has volunteered to coach, late registration, etc.).

Regular Division (2018 Season) competitive division with continued focus on the development of baseball, personal,  and team skills to produce quality play and sportsmanship.

Practices and/or Games are generally scheduled for three days/nights over the course of 7-day week.  With positive feedback from the 2015 season, a limited number of inter-league games may also be reviewed and scheduled with other nearby communities to add greater variety.   Players in the In-House Regular Division are also eligible to play in the Chicago Sunday League.

Teams will be formed based upon player assessments and a draft in an effort to balance the teams.   Generally, only a limited number of 10 year-olds (one or two) play up at the Majors Level each year based upon their ability.  Any requests will be limited and need to be submitted in writing to the Lombard Baseball League Board for consideration.  9 year-olds will not be allowed to play in the Majors.  Families/players requesting playing up from the Junior Division will also require a player assessment and approval by the Board.

As a volunteer organization, families in the Regular Division are required to work a minimum of one, two-hour shift (total 2 hrs) for concession sales or pay a buyout fee.
